People who knew me and my friend Wisam were always under the impression that we had been friends for years and years. Yes, we did meet 7 years ago at Sutton High- but our relationship was one of friendly smiles and small talk and passing acquaintance. It wasn't until just over a year ago (believe it or not), I was at work when I saw her walking into another shop. I called her instantly to tell her I spotted her, she came out straightaway to find me and we had a short catch up. It just so happened that I was meeting some old SHS girls for dinner that night and it made all the sense in the world to invite her. The following pictures are from the night at dinner that would pave way to our following year together-
Other than a tight gym buddy, I'll also miss our coffee sessions laden in juicy gossip. The way we talked to each other was never normal, and on-lookers would often glare wondering what on Earth was so funny. But it's only because she's one of the few people I can tell EVERYTHING to. I usually just say what's on my mind, not to be blunt or rude, but because I can't help it and feel as if I would explode if I didn't say it. I'm open about subjects of all sorts and never get embarrassed easily. Wisam is more respectable and reserved with the coolest chilled out edge. It's been a great learning curve to pick up important qualities from each other.
The support I've received from her is incredible too. See, I have this dream of becoming a presenter and at times that seems so far-fetched and impossible. Even when I hint a bit of negativity about my ambition she slaps me back into reality. People at the top took a chance so I have to as well. She's helped me film nearly all of my videos for all the presenting competitions I've entered. Even her parting words a couple days ago were 'don't forget me when you're famous'. Of course, in return I am incredibly supportive of her interior design ambitions- that's the main reason I let her go to Dubai, where there will be endless job opportunities for her. Dubai was good to me when I lived there 10 years ago, so I know she's in good hands. I wish nothing but the best of luck and of course we'll see each other regularly!
